Remember Mary Tyler Moore’s hat toss in Times Square?

You’re gonna make it after all – right here in Manhattan.

Who can turn the world on with her smile?
Who can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile?
Well it’s you girl, and you should know it
With each glance and every little movement you show it
Love is all around, no need to waste it
You can have a town, why don’t you take it
You’re gonna make it after all
You’re gonna make it after all

“You can have a town, why don’t you take it” was all about making it in New York City. Mary didn’t come from Minneapolis to live in Queens or Jersey City. She wanted to be a part of it, New York, New York. And that meant Manhattan!

But apartments for rent in Manhattan are expensive. You can help to keep your costs lower by renting no fee apartments in NYC – which are exactly the same apartments that brokers rent. If a broker shows you the apartment, you will owe the broker a “broker’s fee” or commission. If you find out about the apartment through a listings company such as RDNY.com, there is no fee for you to pay because there was not broker involved.

We looked at our inventory of Manhattan rentals, looking for the apartments that Mary Tyler Moore might be renting if she was starting out today in New York. We had two overriding critera; 1) the apartment had to be in one of the prime neighborhoods of Manhattan and 2) the apartment had to be no more than $1,700 in monthly rent.

So take a look at our Mary Tyler Moore apartments – and look for Part 2 of this post to give you all 10 of our selections.

One or two of these apartments would work for me. I’m only looking at no fee apartments. Why would anyone want to pay a broker? I don’t get it.
